Our Policies
Wonders Found is a ministry of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church and operates under the general oversight of the Administrative Board of the church.
Wonders Found was established as a means to provide funding for mission trips undertaken by the mission team of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church. Other mission projects, locally and globally, may be supported by funds earned. Persons in need referred to us may also be helped with funds and/or merchandise. All funds earned, after store operational costs are paid, are designated to missions.
Wonders Found maintains it’s own bank accounts. All money received is deposited into these accounts and is kept separate from any church funds. Financial reports are submitted to the church Administrative Board monthly. Records are audited yearly.
Wonders Found is operated by a management team consisting of seven regular shop volunteers. Four are members of Mt. Calvary UMC and three are members of the community at large. There is no designated or appointed “manager” of the shop. All decisions regarding operation and money management are made by this team. The team meets bi-monthly to discuss issues and vision of the ministry and reports to the Administrative Board.
All purchases for the operation of Wonders Found are made by a member of the management team. The purchase of any single item or funding of a project over $100 must be approved by the team.
Two volunteers are required for Wonders Found to open and operate. For safety reasons, the shop will not open if only one volunteer is present.
Volunteers who work at Wonders Found may be members of Mt. Calvary UMC as well as members of the community. All volunteers are required to complete criminal record check and child abuse clearances. Volunteers are oriented by a member(s) of the management team when they begin.
Donations are accepted during regular business hours only. Receipts for donations are given to the donors if desired.
